Jobber preview: see what each record would post.

Last checked October 29, 2026

In short

The Jobber integration reads your Jobber clients, invoices, payments and payouts and shows the entry each one would make in your books. For now it captures and previews only: nothing from Jobber posts to your books yet. Matching customers, products and tax now gets each record ready.

Before you start

You need to be able to manage settings or app connections in Imprest, and to sign in to the Jobber account you run your business in. One Jobber account connects to one company in Imprest.

The connection is read-only: Imprest never writes to Jobber. It reads clients, properties, quotes, jobs, invoices, payments and payouts, products, expenses, timesheets and users.

What isn't ready yet. The Jobber workspace captures records, helps you match them and shows a preview of each entry. It doesn't post invoices, payments or payouts to your books yet. Keep recording that money in Imprest the way you do today, and use the previews to check it.

Connect Jobber

  1. In Imprest, open Apps and choose Add a connection.
  2. Find Jobber and choose Connect.
  3. Choose Connect Jobber. Imprest sends you to Jobber.
  4. Sign in to Jobber and allow Imprest access.
  5. You come back to the Connection tab, which says Jobber is connected. The first capture runs in the background, and the counts fill in as records arrive.

To choose how far back to look, and which accounts previews use, open Integration Settings from the Jobber tabs.

What comes in, and how it would land

The Jobber workspace has a tab for each part: Activity, Payouts, Customers, Products & tax, Reconciliation, Integration Settings, Connection and How it works.

  • Invoices. A sent invoice previews as money your customer owes, split between your income and the sales tax you owe. A Jobber draft is left out until it's sent.
  • Payments. A Jobber Payments card or bank payment previews against a holding account called Jobber Payments Clearing, with tips kept apart as money owed to your crew. Cash and checks preview against Undeposited Funds instead.
  • Payouts. The Payouts tab shows each Jobber Payments deposit with its gross, fees and net, and the bank it went to.
  • Older invoices. An invoice from before the history start you choose previews as an opening balance, so an old sale isn't counted as new income.

Every row shows what it would post as, and why it can't post when something is missing. A preview is only a preview: opening it, or a record reaching Ready to post, doesn't create a journal entry.

Day to day

Jobber tells Imprest when records change, and Imprest also checks on a schedule, so new activity shows up on its own.

  1. On Customers, confirm or choose the Imprest customer for each Jobber client that needs a decision.
  2. On Products & tax, link services to your products and map each Jobber tax rate to the tax it belongs to.
  3. On Activity, choose Re-check holds to update every record after you've matched things.
  4. Open a record to see why it's held and the entry it would make. Choose Re-fetch to read it from Jobber again, Exclude to set it aside, or Restore to bring back one you excluded.
  5. Use Reconciliation to compare what Jobber captured with what's already in your books.

Common problems

  • "This Jobber account is already connected to another company in Imprest." Disconnect it from that company first, or connect a different Jobber account.
  • This company already has history from a different Jobber account. You can only switch Jobber accounts before anything has been captured. Sign in as the account you connected before, or email support to move the company to a new account.
  • "Jobber stopped accepting Imprest's access." Choose Reconnect Jobber on the Connection tab and sign in again.
  • "Imprest needs a little more access from Jobber." Reconnect and allow the extra access Jobber asks for.
  • "The last capture didn't finish." Imprest retries on its own. If it keeps happening, email support.
  • A record is held. The Why column names what's missing, such as a customer, product or tax match. Fix it on the tab it names, then choose Re-check holds.

Disconnect

  1. Open the Jobber workspace and choose the Connection tab.
  2. Choose Disconnect, then Disconnect Jobber to confirm.

Imprest stops capturing from Jobber and asks Jobber to remove its access. Everything captured so far stays in Imprest, and you can reconnect the same Jobber account at any time.

Jobber is a trademark of its owner, used here only to name the service Imprest connects to.
