Rippling integration
Record each Rippling payroll in your books from its journal.
Run payroll in Rippling as usual. Rippling sends each pay run's accounting journal to your company's Imprest payroll address, where it opens as a draft payroll with wages, employer taxes and net pay filled in, ready for review and posting.
How it works
Three common scenarios, step by step.
Rippling pay run recorded
The journal Rippling sends becomes a draft payroll, and approving it records wages, employer taxes and both withdrawals.
Example: Rippling pays $5,000 of salary. It withholds $1,000 from employees and adds $400 of employer taxes, so it withdraws $4,000 of net pay and $1,400 of taxes from checking.

Dated on the pay date
Wages and employer taxes are recorded on the pay date, and the two Rippling withdrawals are recorded against checking, ready to match.
One-time journal setup in Rippling
Four steps in Rippling, after which every paid pay run sends its journal automatically.
Example: a company that already runs payroll in Rippling and wants it recorded in its books from now on.

Opens as a draft in Payroll
Every paid Rippling pay run reaches Payroll as a draft without anyone downloading a file.
Pay run from before setup
The journal is downloaded from Rippling and dropped on the Payroll page.
Example: a $2,000 bonus run paid by Rippling on September 30, before the journal was set up. Rippling withheld $500 and added $160 of employer taxes, so it withdrew $1,500 of net pay and $660 of taxes.

Dated on the pay date
The earlier run is recorded on its own pay date, in the same way as the journals Rippling sends.
Scope
Synchronized data and your controls.
Data synchronized
Each pay run's accounting journal, sent by Rippling's Manual GL Export. There is no sign-in connection. Setup is completed once in Rippling: add the Manual GL Export, upload the mapping file Imprest provides, choose three journal settings and add your Imprest payroll address to the journal's recipients. A journal can also be downloaded from Rippling and dropped on the Payroll page.
Your controls
Imprest records payroll and does not run it. Rippling continues to pay your team, withhold and pay the taxes, and file. A journal remains a draft until your team approves it. Rippling reports each person's employee withholding as one amount, so Imprest records it as one amount rather than splitting it by tax.
